Inspired by Allen Jones and Hajime Sorayama and their fetishized visual languages of human furniture and eroticized machines, Mechanical Dance explores the tension between rigid mechanics and soft, sensual movement. The piece uses 3D animation, camera choreography, and lighting to construct an artificial, eroticized atmosphere, imagining a machine that can dance and perform objecthood.
